Septic tanks take a whole lotta crap (...get it?)
In a perfect world, the only thing that a septic tank would have to handle is human waste, toilet paper, and any water that drains from your toilets, showers and bathtubs. But unfortunately, we don't live in that perfect world. And there are a lot of other things that tend to end up down in a septic system that cause problems.
Your septic tank has a special little cocktail of enzymes and bacteria that are tasked with breaking down solid, organic waste. Diapers, toys, and socks do not count as organic waste. And when these things are flushed or allowed to go down drains, they cause obstructions.
This is why septic pumping and maintenance services are so crucial to the health of your septic system. You need them in order to keep things flowing! Call us, your friendly neighborhood septic service, so that we can come take a look and make sure everything's in the best shape possible for you.
We are full-service septic experts, and we can't wait to meet you!

"How do you properly maintain a septic tank?" We love it when we get this question, because proper maintenance is key to a septic tank living a long and healthy life. One of the most crucial pieces of this puzzle is routing septic pumping services. How often, though, will depend on a couple different factors, including how many people live in your home. As a rule of thumb, your septic tank will need to be pumped every 1-3 years to keep it in the best possible condition.
At the end of the day, a septic system is just a piece of machinery. And pieces of machinery can break down, or certain components of it can fail. There could also be certain external factors that contribute, such as construction projects happening over a tank unbeknownst to the construction contractors, or paving projects happening above the septic system. Maybe excessive vehicle traffic is wreaking havoc on a septic tank beneath the ground. Or it could be possible that the tank wasn't installed properly in the first place. No matter what, if a septic system is on the fritz, this can lead to hazardous situations such as polluted water sources. So septic repairs should be taken seriously!
Whether you need a septic system for your home or business, Irvine Septic System Services is the company to call. Our name may be misleading, but we proudly serve the city of Yorba Linda! If you entrust us with installing your new septic system, every step of the process will be handled properly from the beginning. The type of septic system that you should have installed depends on some factors, such as the number of bedrooms in your house and the number of residents or tenants on the property. We also understand the differences between residential and new construction septic system installation projects and what that means when it comes to determining the complexity of system installation. Even if you choose not to hire us (and we have no idea why you'd do that) it's very important that the company you go with also understands this!
If you have an older unit and you suspect that it's beginning to malfunction, it is entirely natural for you to want a newer, more modern septic system. First, we'll look for evidence that the system itself is deteriorating. In some cases, an inefficient septic system may only need some repair work or a few component replacements. It is, however, necessary sometimes to replace older septic systems. With our expertise, we can evaluate the facts associated with each case in order to recommend the best possible course of action.
The housing market is hot. And Orange County is one of the most desirable places that people are venturing to to look for a new place to live. If you're considering purchasing a home that relies on septic, it is important to have a septic system inspection performed before signing on the dotted line. But it's not just potential homeowners that can rely on our inspection services. Realtors, escrow companies and other organizations have also relied on our valuable services to help the make the best decisions when it comes to real estate. Call us to schedule an appointment for us to inspect a septic tank!
In general, costs for septic tank pumping depends on the size of the tank.
Depending on the size of the property and the number of residents or tenants in the building connected to the septic system, a septic tank should be pumped every 1-3 years.
NO DRAIN CLEANER! Drain cleaner messes with the delicate balance of bacteria and enzymes inside of a septic tank. Just a teaspoon of drain cleaner is all it takes to cause a lot of damage, so don't use it!
So you had your septic tank pumped and now it's full again? Don't panic! It may just seem that way. When a septic tank pumping service is conducted, any sewage buildup that could potentially lead to septic failure is removed. However, there will still be water in the septic tank that will return to normal within a few hours after the serivce is finished. This water level should be at or below the outlet line, though. Otherwise, that could be a sign that your septic system may be malfunctioning. If you notice this problem, please contact us immediately.
Have you ever wondered how a typical septic system works?
Well first of all, you should keep in mind that for a building that relies on septic, any and all water runs out of your house from one drainage pipe into your septic tank.
Depending on the type of septic tank that you have, it's either made of concrete, fiberglass, or polyethylene. Essentially, a septic tank holds the wastewater that comes from the building long enough for any solid waste to settle down on the bottom, creating a layer of sludge while any oils and grease will float to the stop as scum. Compartments inside of the septic system and a special, T-shaped outlet prevent both the sludge and the scum from leaving the septic tank and entering the drain field--a shallow, covered excavation in the unsaturated soil. What is able to exit the tank, however, is everything in between, aka the liquid wastewater.
The pretreated wastewater exits the tank through piping into porous surfaces that allow the wastewater to filter through the soil. The soil treats and disperses the wastewater, and ultimately discharges it to groundwater.
Last, but not least, the wastewater percolates into the soil, which naturally removes any harmful bacteria and viruses. One of the most harmful groups of bacteria would be coliform, which is found in the intestines of humans and other warm-bodied animals. When groundwater is found to be contaminated, often a big indicator is the presence of coliform bacteria. So it's imperative that the drainfield is functioning properly. If it gets overloaded with too much liquid, it can flood, which causes sewage to flow to the ground surface. This can lead to the groundwater being contaminated with harmful bacteria and viruses.
If you have a septic system, it is important to be a responsible owner! You do this by making sure that you stay on top of any septic maintenance or repairs. This will ensure that you keep your family and your community safe.
